I like the idea of windmills generating electricity. I’d like to see one or two on the river to light the park and bridge. Another possibility would be up at Glen Wild, where our reservoirs are. I have kept this in the back of my mind as we plan improvements. That said, they are costly and it is a whole industry unto itself. Let’s hope for a source of funding.

I say Amsterdam being a windmill is our staple install some wind turbines in the city to produce electricity it brings attention to the city plus we are doing our part to protect the enviroment. Plus there are many grants we can get and would only have to pay a small amount if any. Is there any possibility in this?

You are right, some beautiful old buildings should be preserved, but don’t fall into the bad habit of trying to preserve everything. Pick and choose sites that will have a viable and productive second life. I grew up in Amsterdam, and I still consider it “home”, and nothing would be more wonderful than to see some old places have a new life. Right now I’m near Buffalo, and the presevationists are losing site of reality. They want to preseve everything, even to ruin progress, for their cause. Remember history is definately worth preseving, but we also need to move forward.

Touché, my dear. That said, I had identified concrete steps I intended to take. I still keep those campaign promises on my desk and work toward them everyday. I’m doggedly pursing those seven Comprehensive Plan goals established during your time in office and have made measurable progress. I intend to continue on this path. Thanks for sharing. A.

Don’t be so harsh. I remember feeling the same way about you two years ago at the very same forum when you were talking about “thinking outside the box” and you couldn’t explain Amsterdam’s tax caps.
